2025-2026 school year

French 1

I will be offering this class in my home on Thursday afternoons, 12:30-2:30 pm. There will be 60-90 minutes of work at home per week. I live in Lindenwood Park (63139).  The class will meet 15 times in August - December and 15 times in January - May.

This class will have graded assignments and assessments, and your student will be given a percentage grade. This class will be very "low screens," and we will be using a workbook from the "Breaking the Barrier" French program as the foundation, with other analog activities and resources mixed in.

Speaking, listening, reading and writing will all be included, as well as learning about French-speaking countries and cultures around the world. No prior French experience is necessary, but there are a few requirements:

- Students must be at least 12 years old as of the beginning of the class in August 2026.
- Students must be able and willing to sit and participate in lessons/activities for 30 minutes at a time.
- Students must be able and willing to handwrite a paragraph (5-8 sentences) in one sitting.
- A brief, in-person interview with myself, the student and a parent is required before being enrolled in the class.

1st semester - $300 (includes workbook and materials)
2nd semester - $230

Target class size is 8 students
